This is a very funny article that I found on the internet and that really gets at the essence of the whole self-awareness game.
I’ll save you the reading because this is the first strip I’ve come across that really makes me like the game a bit more. While I’m certainly not a fan of striping, I do love how the author shows the self-awareness in action. The funny thing is that the author was doing this in a pretty serious newsroom. The strip is about how the reporter is trying to get the attention of a reporter for the local paper about an important story.
He’s been on Deathloop for a full week, and she’s been on the island for four days, but the reporter has yet to make any actual efforts to get her attention. When he finally does, she makes a few half-assed jokes, and he tells her to go “fuck a duck.” This is a bit of a stretch, but it is a point worth noting. People should not feel bad for the reporter because of his lack of self-awareness.
In Deathloop, your character’s power determines how you interact with your environment. This is different from most games where you have a power that determines your ability to manipulate things. It’s an ability that you can have for every action you take.
For example, one of the most noticeable things about the game is that you can now wear clothes that are specifically designed to block certain attacks (like a black shirt that blocks the bullets, or a black shirt and black pants that block fire). It comes in handy when you’re trying to take out a Visionary with a sniper rifle, get an important message to everyone at once, or simply run from a mob of Visionaries.
Its also kinda cool to have a few different types of clothes. You can wear a black shirt and black pants. Or, you can wear a black shirt and a blue jacket. Or, you can wear a black shirt and a dark blue jacket. Or, you can wear a black shirt and a light blue jacket. Basically this is your choice, and you can take as many clothes as you want.
This is another one of those “if you want to be a good reporter, you are gonna have to put on a bunch of different outfits in order to cover your beats” moments. There are a lot of different types of reporters out there, and even among them there are a lot of different styles. For instance, a news reporter in New York might wear a suit, but an Arizona reporter might wear a t-shirt, a pair of jeans and a pair of sneakers.
One of the newest tricks to make it look like a person was wearing a particular outfit is the news reporter’s shirt. Apparently reporters used to wear different shirts in different newsrooms. The shirts now come in a huge variety of colors, and you can easily find one that looks like a reporter.
The third and most visible element of the news reporters shirt is the cover. It’s a bit difficult to tell if you’re looking at cover and back-cover from the bottom, because it can look so much like a back-cover that covers the front cover. The cover is just as important as the source. It’s a little more difficult to get a good look at the content of the cover.
So, the cover is the most conspicuous element of the shirt. It is the first thing that you see after you open it. Its the first thing that people see. Its the first thing people actually read. Its the first thing people think about. Its the first thing that the newsroom staff are worried about. Its pretty much the first thing they talk about when they have to send you to the bathroom.
