The Jersey City Police Department is the largest police department in New Jersey and one of the safest. They have a dedicated staff of approximately 170 officers and are committed to keeping the community safe. In addition to their extensive law enforcement presence, the department is also responsible for the City’s Emergency Medical Services.
The department has recently been undergoing some changes. They recently announced a new Chief, and as a part of the new announcement, they are introducing several new officers. These officers will join two other officers that came in to the department in the last three months. These new officers will not only help with keeping the department current, but will also be stationed in the department’s Emergency Medical Services Section.
The department is currently having some staffing challenges. As a department, the EMS department is understaffed. The department has just recently had an additional officer assigned to the department but a year ago it had a new head of operations.
According to the news release, the new officers will be stationed in the EMS department and work out of the Emergency Response Unit. The Emergency Medical Services Section is a division of the department that has a fleet of ambulances and is responsible for responding to medical emergencies. It deals with both medical emergencies as well as responding to law enforcement calls. When officers are on duty, it is the responsibility of the officers to respond to 911 calls, and to transport EMS patients to the appropriate hospitals.
For the first time since the department has been officially created in 2001, officers will be working from the EMS position in the EMS department. The EMS department will also be staffed with a full-time 911 operator, while the Emergency Response Unit will be staffed with a part-time operator.
The new position of 911 Operator has an expected starting salary of $27,000, but the department expects to pay the EMS operators a salary of $27,000 plus benefits. The department will also begin hiring the first full-time 911 operator in 2012. In the meantime, the department has hired a part-time operator to work in its Emergency Response Unit.
The EMS department will also have to have a full-time assistant so that the department can operate from home. The assistant will be a full-time manager and will have a full-time supervisor.
