This past week, the Longboat Key public boat launch was open for business and it was well attended. A full boat launch is a wonderful opportunity for those who are new to Longboat Key.
But what about the keys? The Longboat Key boat launch allows residents and visitors alike to use the boat for launching their own boats. On the public boat launch, a longboat key is available for the captain to take to the mainland for free. This means that anyone can launch a boat on the public boat launch and just drive it back with no cost to the Longboat Key community.
This is a great way to get into the island as well as to get into the water. The launch is located at the parking lot at the end of the longboat pier. So people can literally drive their boats up the waterway and launch them on the pier. This allows the Longboat Key community to get into the water more frequently and allows access to more of the island’s shoreline.
