I love this quote: “A whole lot of people are afraid of change, and they’re not sure how to make the most of what’s already available.” So true. When I think about how different my life has been over the last few years, I feel like a little bit of fear creeps in. I’m not the type of person that can shake off a bad date or a bad relationship.
And you know the best way to keep that fear at bay? With this article called “A Brief History of Changing Ideas about New Ideas,” from the late 80s and early 90s, a group of us writers and artists were brainstorming ways to make a game as good as the original Nethack. So we decided to start a blog to document our ideas.
After creating the A Brief History of Changing Ideas blog, we started a website called zanesvilleohio.com (a name that is still in use today). That’s where you can read all about the ideas of our blog and our new game. Our hope is that these ideas will be helpful to you as you begin your own life as a game designer.
I think a lot of us started our blog because we wanted to document our thoughts and ideas so they could be shared with the community. I’ve been playing around with this concept ever since, so I think I’m doing something similar. I’ve been making the game since it was a concept for a game jam. I’ve been trying to play around with it since I started making it, so I think I’m doing something similar.
I think I know what you mean by having “a lot of thoughts and ideas” and having “a lot of thoughts” and “a lot of ideas” and “a lot of things” and “a lot of actions.” Ive been doing this for a long time and I’ve seen it start to slow down recently, but I still have a lot of ideas and thoughts and actions. So I guess I’m doing the same thing.
I guess that’s exactly what I mean. Ive been making the game for a while, and I think I would have stopped making it years before. Ive been making it for a really long time, and I think I would have stopped making it several years ago.
When you make a game, you start by writing the game. After a while, you start to think about when you would like to release that game. If you don’t want to write it, you don’t want to release it. If you are writing it, what’s the point? You don’t want your game to run out of steam before you finish it. If you can’t finish it, you’re pretty much done. So, I guess that’s how it is.
I think it is a sad thing that people feel locked into their own vision for games. They forget that there is more to life than just the games they love. There is a whole world that is out there beyond their own dreams, and it is more important than anything else they could attain. That world is the internet. It is their life. The internet is the only world they will ever see.
