Bigg Boss has long been in the news with its most recent season being an event rather than just a show.

1. BIGG BOSS is not based on a book

The show was inspired by an Indonesian reality show called Big Brother which ran from 2001 to 2014. The format of the show changed substantially and instead of being a single house, it’s now a series of houses ranging from two to five. This was reportedly inspired by the success of Big Brother in the UK.

2. Season 8 is BIGGEST ever

Last year, Bigg Boss 9 became the most watched TV show ever on Indian television and among all other reality shows including that of Pakistan and afghanistan. The episode broke all previous records with more than 40 million viewers tuning in to watch it, making it BIGGEST ever in India as well as overseas. This has earned it a Guinness World Record.

3. The format changed due to the show’s success

Bigg Boss 8 and 9 were the two most watched shows on tv ever. However, after season 8, the production house decided to change the format of the show which led to bigg boss 10 being named as janam pelli which is now in its tenth season.

4. BIGGEST BOSS ever held was in Jamshedpur

The most successful BIGGEST BOSS ever held was in Jamshedpur and had contestants from all over India taking part. The house had 37 participants, who were chosen as part of the public voting and announced on the night of the T.V broadcast.

5. Bigg BOSS got a rebranding

In 2015, BIGG BOSS had a rebranding to better suit the Indian audience and fans were very happy with this change. This is one thing that has made BIGG BOSS quite popular among people in India as it didn’t have any names like that of previous ones in india.

6. Salman Khan was not the first choice for BIGG BOSS

Salman Khan has been hosting the show since 2010 and many fans are still surprised to hear that Salman wasn’t a part of the show until then. In fact, he wasn’t the first choice either, Aamir Khan was chosen as host but he turned it down due to his international commitments. So, in came Salman who hasn’t left since.

7. Bigg Boss 4 is BIGGEST worldwide

Bigg Boss 4 had a very wide and diverse set of contestants from all over India which made it extremely popular with people across every age group. Even though the show was sold-out in many cities and hampers across India, it still faced a lot of problems such as low quality of the transmission and some participants being cut off at the last minute.

8. BIGGEST BOSS ever held outside India was at France

In 2004, BIGGEST BOSS was held outside India—first in France and then in 21 other countries. This was the first time that BIGG BOSS had left India and it was a huge hit and captured the interest of people all over Europe. After the success of BIGGEST BOSS ever held in India, the production house decided to hold it in France for a second time. The house had 28 participants this time, hence making it the BIGGEST ever held outside India.

9. BIGGEST BOSS ever held was huge

Although BIGGEST BOSS ever held was very successful, it also had its share of problems. For example, the voting lines were jammed at some points and the show stopped airing for two days due to technical errors. Bigg Boss is the BIGGEST BOSS ever held which is why it’s so popular. The house was made in such a way to include all rooms for the contestants to stay in, several common areas with every other room, swimming pool, gym, spa and also a dining area.

10. Ashutosh Kaushik was the runner-up of BIGG BOSS 10

He was the runner-up of BIGG BOSS 10. He got to stay in his house for a month and people have been voting for him since then without any problem. Ashutosh Kaushik or Ashu Kaushik was declared runner-up of BIGG BOSS 10 season and earned himself 2 Crores prize amount as well as a white sports car as reward for playing so well throughout the show.
