10 Tips With Farmhouse Lantern Decor

Today I am going to be reviewing 10 tips with farmhouse lantern decor ideas. This decor is really popular and it’s easy to see why. Farmhouse lanterns are beautiful and they work well in any room of the house. It is a little more expensive, but they are worth every penny and make a statement in any room you put them in.

Lanterns can make a great focal point in any room and make decoration that much easier. All you have to do is find the right spot for your lantern and then use some of these great tips for using your lanterns to add decorative interest.

I have used many different types of farmhouse decor over the years and I have developed my own style that works well with many different rooms. I like industrial elements mixed in with the rustic ones. It gives any room an eclectic and vintage feel that is really appealing.

Five great tips with Farmhouse Lantern Decor are:

1. Give Your Lantern a New Look

One thing that can make it look dated is to keep it exactly the same. Try to find different ways to decorate your lantern so that you don’t make the same mistake many people do, which is painting over your lantern with clear spray paint.

Really old lanterns are made out of wood and they will have a beautiful patina on them. The only way to really see what the true color is of your lantern is by taking it outside in the sun, or in a very well lit area and looking at it up close.

If you end up deciding that you don’t like the color of your lantern, then you can always repaint it before adding any new decor to it.

2. Cover Your Lantern

This tip is only really necessary if you are looking to add a focal point to the room. I don’t recommend using a lantern to do this. It’s better if you can use a candle, pendant light or something that has a shine to it.

3. Decorate Around the Lantern

If you want your lantern to be an added decorative piece that can hold it’s own in any room, don’t hang it above your fireplace mantle or try and use it as a chandelier in your dining room. Create an area around it that you’ll decorate with and then add your lanterns on top of this area.

If your lanterns are going to be used as a focal point in a room, then you can use any of the other tips that I am going to talk about below.

4. Use Lanterns with Other Elements

I truly believe that lanterns and candle holders can make any room look more homey and cozy. Don’t get stuck on just using them in your living room, but try using them in your dining room, bathroom and bedroom as well.

5. Use Lanterns for Decorative Accents

Lanterns can be used as a great decorative accent in any room. I always like to put lanterns in the foyer or at the base of the stairs. I also like to add a few lanterns to my mantel. These are really beautiful and they take up very little space.

6. Add Lanterns to Your Foyer

I like to add some lanterns to my foyer. They give the room a nice and welcoming feel. You can get really creative with how you arrange your lanterns in your foyer and it is sure to make it look a lot more inviting than it currently is.

7. Add Lanterns over an Entryway Bench

If you want some extra decor inside of your home, then one great place to put a couple of lanterns is over an entryway bench underneath them. This will help add that little extra ambiance that you need inside your home, but it won’t take up too much space on the floor in front of the bench.

8. Add Lanterns to Your Staircase

You can also add lanterns over your staircase. You do not have to put them directly on the floor, you can use a piece of wood and secure them on each side of your stairs. This is another great way to add that extra special charm to the space.

9. Hang Lanterns Over a Bench in Your Front Yard

You can hang lanterns over one of your front yard benches as well. This will only work if it is an outdoor space and you do not want your lantern shining onto people that are going down that path to come inside of the house.

10. Use Lanterns in Your Dining Room

One thing that I love to use lanterns for is in my dining room. They look amazing over a dining room table and really help light up the whole space so that everyone can see what they are eating. Plus, it gives you that extra lighting you need when the lights go out and everyone is trying to find their way from the kitchen to the table!

Conclusion:

These are just some of the great tips with farmhouse lantern decor that I have learned over the years. I hope they can help you add a little extra something special to your home, whether it’s a new look or just making your home feel more welcoming.
