All That You Should Know About the Mask You Wear

Face masks are one of the tools that you may use to prevent illness transmission. There are several brands of surgical masks in Australia to choose from, and they are available in various colours. It is essential to utilise a face mask that the FDA has authorised.

What Is the Purpose of a Face Mask?

Surgical face masks in Australia from reputable manufacturers are of the best quality, and they help prevent the transmission of germs. People may spread germs via the air when they speak, cough, or sneeze because they release microscopic droplets into the air. When someone is unwell, wearing a face mask may help minimise the germs they discharge into the environment, preventing others from getting ill. An additional benefit of wearing a face mask is protecting the wearer’s nose or mouth from bodily liquid spills or sprinkles.

While mask is an important thing to keep, you also need to be aware that your daily use products can also be a way of transferring germs and bacteria. These non-visible objects are everywhere and you need to be cautious. Always make sure your daily use products are disinfected properly. Use quality antibacterial hand towels like Mizu to wash your hands properly. Antibacterial towels help eliminating the harmful bacteria so they are the great way to keep you safe.

When Should You Use a Face Mask?

Consider using a face mask when sick with a coughing or sneezing disease (with or without fever) and anticipate being close to others. The face mask will assist in keeping them from becoming unwell with your infection. When individuals use face masks in healthcare settings, particular guidelines must be followed in Australia.

Instructions on How to Apply and Remove a Face Mask

Disposable masks should be used just once and then disposed of in the garbage. When masks get wet, you should remove them and replace them with fresh ones. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for proper usage and storage of the mask and the procedures for putting on and removing the mask. The actions listed below should be followed if there are no instructions for putting on and taking off the mask on hand.

Instructions on How to Put on a Face Mask

  1. Before handling the mask, please wash your hands with soap and water or use a hand sanitiser to disinfect them.
  1. Remove a mask from its packaging and inspect it to ensure no noticeable rips or holes on either of the mask’s sides.
  2. Determine which side of the mask is on top by looking at it. To fit your nose correctly, the top of the mask features a flexible solid edge that should be bent to fit your nose.
  1. Decide which side of the mask is the front side by looking at it. The colourful side of the mask is usually the front and should be facing away from you, whilst the white side should be touching your face and facing inward.
  1. Follow the steps outlined below according to the sort of mask you’re wearing.
  • Mask with ear holes for the face: Hold the mask by the ear loops to keep it in place. Make a loop around each of your ears.
  • Face Mask with Ties: Bring the mask up to the height of your nose and bind the ties around the crown of your head, tying them together with a bow.
  • Headbands for a Face Mask: Holding the mask in your hand, with the nosepiece or top of the mask at your fingers, let the headbands dangle freely below your hands. Bring the mask up to the level of your nose and draw the top strap over your head so that it lies over the crown of your head. The bottom strap should be placed at the nape of your neck, with the top strap resting on your shoulders.
  1. The firm edge should be moulded or pinched to fit the contour of your nose.
  2. If you’re wearing a face mask with ties, then take the bottom ties and knot them together with a bow at the nape of your neck, one in each hand.
  3. Pulling the bottom of the mask over your mouth and chin can help to keep the mask in place.

Remove a Face Mask the Right Way

  • Before handling the mask, please wash your hands with soap and water or use a hand sanitiser to disinfect them.
  • Keep your hands away from the front of the mask. Only the ear loops/ties/band should be touched since the front of the mask is polluted. Follow the steps outlined below according to the sort of mask you’re wearing.
  • Face Mask with Ear Loops: Gently raise and remove the mask by holding both ear loops simultaneously.
  • With a face mask with ties, first undo the bottom bow, then the top bow, and move the mask away from you while the ties are loosening.
  • Face Mask with Straps: First, lift the bottom strap over your head and then draw the top strap to complete the process.
  • Remove the mask off your person and throw it away. Hands should be washed with soap and water or hand sanitiser before eating.
