It seems that no matter how much gas you put in it, Briggs and Stratton engines just won’t start. What do you do? Well, first of all, don’t panic. This is a common problem with these engines – try priming the carburetor again and see if this helps. If this doesn’t work then there are some other things to check before calling an expensive repairman out!
We have a Briggs and Stratton engine that was left outside all winter. It has never run, so we are unsure of what the problem is. We know it needs gas but there’s no way to start the engine without priming it – which can only be done when you take off the air filter cover on top of the carburetor and pour in some fuel from an old milk jug or something. If this doesn’t work then try checking for debris build up under your spark plug – clean if necessary with either compressed air or even just by blowing into it if absolutely necessary!
