The post has wrapped up, according to a recent post on Timothée Chalamet’s Instagram page. The image features the actor alongside his father as the pair stands on another side of a framework of the desert with text that reads, “DUNE 2 WRAPPED.

In case you’ve been living under a rock and are unaware of what Dune is, it’s based on Frank Herbert’s novels in which humans have colonized and conquered most of their universe via interstellar travel.

The original film, directed by David Lynch and starring Kyle MacLachlan as Paul Atreides and Sting as Feyd Rautha, follows the patriarch of House Atreides as he takes up the mantle of House Harkonnen. The sequel will follow Atreides’ son, Paul II, who squares off against both his father’s enemies and those who believe Paul II is their future sultan.

Of course, the Dune franchise has had a long history of being adapted into a film. The first film, starring Paul Salinger (son of J.D. Salinger) as Paul Atreides and featuring the legendary Jessica Stanford playing his mother, Princess Irulan, grossed over $90 million at the domestic box office in 1984 and became the highest-grossing fantasy film at the time. Though it wasn’t officially a box office hit, it did receive a Best Picture nomination for 1984.

The same year that the first film was released, Paolo Sorel’s Italian television miniseries Dune was broadcast on RAI and was based on Frank Herbert’s 1981 novel. This miniseries also became immensely popular in Italy and spawned two sequels, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. The most famous of the Dune adaptations, however, is David Lynch’s 1984 feature film adaptation that garnered five Oscar nominations (including Best Picture) but lost out to The Color Purple.
