“It’s time to take back Edward Davis and Josh Heuston! Legendary Television has announced that the pair of actors have been cast in recurring roles for their upcoming “Dune” prequel series. With production on the “Dune” film reboot still underway, filming is set to begin in Morocco next month.
Both Davis and Heuston will be playing military leaders of the Empire. Davis will be portraying General Wensa Jax, while Heuston will play Colonel Kadir.” When Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson first put out their “Dune” prequel novel “Sisterhood of Dune,” people were skeptical. Turns out, they were right.
The “Dune” prequel series at HBO Max has cast both Josh Heuston and Edward Davis in reoccurring roles.
“Dune provides an origin story for the quarrel between the noble Atreides family and the evil Harkonnen emperor, as well as the empire’s struggle with a hostile desert climate. Set in a distant future in which feudal dynasties have coalesced into competing superpowers, the story explores humanity’s relationship with nature, technology, and its self-image.”
“Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson will serve as administrative producers on the series. Dennis Haysbert, who starred in the 1984 sci-fi movie “Dune,” is also an executive producer.
The Prequels Web site states: “The ATREIDES family, a noble house of Fremen warriors who have defended the desert from Arrakis for generations, are at war with the HARKONNEN family for control of the desert planet Arrakis.
“Dune” is an original story conceived and edited by series creator, executive producer, and writer Frank Spotnitz. The series will be produced by Legendary Television in association with A&E Television Networks for ABC Signature Studios.
The actress who played Jessica, the character that was created by Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert in the 1985 novel “Dune”, spoke about this upcoming prequel television series. In a 2013 article on Yahoo! News, the actress (Shannon McRandle) is quoted as saying: “I think it’s going to be pretty cool.” That sounds like good news for fans of the series’ book counterpart.
According to our best sources, the “Dune” prequel series is currently in the process of casting roles and we have learned that the production has already begun recruiting extras through an online casting site.
Writer/producer Brian Herbert had this to say: “It’s an exciting time because we’re getting ready to start production on our first season at Legendary. We can’t wait to deliver a new chapter of ‘Dune’ fans are going to love.”
The story is set in a distant future as humanity has shifted into three factions: The Galactic Emperor, The Freemen, and The Guilds. Each section has its own agenda, but all are struggling for survival in a complex universe.
The adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic novel is officially on. The classic sci-fi will be a prequel to 1969’s “Dune.”
The Dune prequel film is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Arrival), with a script from Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
Legendary Television confirmed that the film would be released in 2020. Presumably, this was the date they were hoping to start casting roles. The plot will reportedly center on Paul Atreides and his battle to conquer an empire that rules the galaxy.
