Batman is one of America’s most famous and beloved heroes. He was an intellectual, physical marvel, and a symbol of social justice. After three decades, Batman has changed immensely in his comic book form. Some changes were general development after 30 years. Batman was already 30 years old in 1989 and he is still popular, so why would Warner Bros. and DC Comics want to reboot a character that is such an integral element of their universe? The answer: They wouldn’t, not until the Bat titles need a jump-start to increase sales.
No, the next Batman movie will not be a reboot. It will be a part of the name only.
Although Warner Bros. has not revealed the cast, some casting announcements have been made. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) is in talks to play Batman’s sidekick Robin. Meagan Good (Think Like A Man) is rumored to take on the role of Barbara Gordon, former Batgirl, who becomes paralyzed after a terrorist attack on Gotham City. Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs, Fatal Attractions) stars as a woman who has feelings for Bruce Wayne and threatens his secret identity.
Not much is known about the plot. However, it is believed that Batman 2 will revolve around a new villain called Ra’s al Ghul. His goal is to destroy Gotham City and change Batman’s life forever. Ra’s al Ghul is one of Batman’s most formidable foes (and best assassins). Ra’s al Ghul is the leader of The League of Shadows, an organization that has several high-powered members (Killer Croc, Bane, and Katana). The League of Shadows aims to destroy the corruption in Gotham City by any means necessary. In the latter Batman movies, Ra’s al Ghul and his daughter Talia first appeared as supporting characters.
In “The Dark Knight Rises”, Bane says that Ra’s al Ghul trained him. This leads me to speculate that Bane was trained by Ra’s al Ghul before he walked away from The League of Shadows and embraced his criminal career.
Variety reports that Warner Bros. has set an official release date of June 25, 2025. This is an odd release date because it is a Friday and it is an odd year. I believe that this movie will get a 2025 release since the last Batman movie (“The Dark Knight Rises”) was released in 2012. If Warner Bros. releases “Batman 2” in 2025, they could earn a lot of money at the box office since Batman will be 80 years old at that time.
In January 2023, DC Comics and Warner Bros appear on a talk show called “Today”. They announce the sequel to “The Dark Knight Rises”. They finished creating it three months earlier (around December 2022).
It is expected to be released in June 2025. James Gunn directed the second and third installments of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise and was announced as co-CEO of DC Entertainment. Peter Safran, owner of Safran Company, will help as co-CEO. It is an interesting movie and the actions also.
According to Variety, “the new chapter in the Batman saga will be released June 25, 2025.” This is interesting because that is a Friday and it is not even a whole year (it is two days short). It has been five years since the events in “The Dark Knight Rises”. The only person who knows his identity is Alfred Pennyworth.
