The Emory Health Sciences Library offers information and services for Emory’s health sciences professionals. Services include consulting space, teaching classrooms, searchable digital collections, and more.
The EHSL provides a variety of services including consulting space, teaching classrooms and formal instruction classes. The EHSL also offers its patrons a searchable digital collections of books on the topics of medicine, nursing, dentistry, public health and global health as well as other book collections.
The EHSL holds a variety of classes for students and faculty. The classes are available for both in-person and virtual interactions. The teaching spaces include study rooms, conference rooms and seminar areas. Some classes may require participants to bring their own books or laptops that contain the class materials.
The EHSL has two consulting rooms on each floor that Emory students, faculty and staff use for eight hours per week over the course of two years. Each room features one computer with internet access, a shared printer, copy machine, copier and fax machine; as well as high-speed wireless internet access throughout the building. In addition, the EHSL offers two white board spaces (selectable by students) with limited print and copy machine access. These spaces are available for eight hours per week over the course of one year.
The EHSL is a place that Emory employees can use to do research in their fields or learn about other areas of Emory’s academic health sciences community. The Library is not restricted by areas of study or faculty affiliation, which means that anyone at Emory – from undergraduates to postgraduate students to faculty and staff – can use it. There are guidelines for who can use the facilities depending on the kind of research or instruction that they wish to engage in. The EHSL is a place for everyone at Emory to get the information that they need.
The EHSL offers a variety of online catalogs and databases that are available to all Emory patrons. The Library offers over 300 resources, including collections on medicine and health care, public health, nursing and the study of health and wellness.
The Library also offers a wide range of print resources relating to the various skills and areas of study at Emory University. These include books, journals, journals on CD-ROM, data sets on CD-ROM and more.
The EHSL offers a number of services to the Emory community and beyond. The Library offers classes and consultation services to various departments at Emory, as well as information resources for global health workers. In addition, it is open to the public on Sundays from 10:00am-2:00pm, where members of the Atlanta community can stop in for research assistance or classes. In addition, Library employees present at conferences within Emory University about a variety of topics relating to its users’ fields or departments. The Library also has a partnership with the Atlanta Public Library.

The EHSL was formed in 1988 with the purpose of serving Emory’s health sciences community. Today, it contains over 60,000 printed volumes that relate to subjects such as medicine, public health and nursing as well as many other areas of study. In addition, it holds nearly 150,000 digital resources including collections on nursing, dentistry and many other subjects. The Library also serves as a forum for sharing knowledge and research across different fields within the Emory community.

Patrons can hold classes in spaces provided by the library, or they can present their own materials in areas like meeting rooms or study rooms. The librarians and staff can assist patrons with research and finding answers to general questions about information locating and using resources at the library.
