Kamikaze has adapted Akira Toriyama’s short-lived manga Sand Land into an anime.

Sand Land, a short but adored manga by Dragon Ball maker Akira Toriyama, is getting an anime acclimation from Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga, and Anima.

Bandai Namco Entertainment United states recently revealed a “visual acclimation” of Sand Land on its YouTube channel, along with a tv show. The teaser shows the configuration and plotlines of Sand Land, including the significant character Beelzebub, son of Lucifer. Sand Land was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump journal in Japan from May 2000 to August 2000, published and highlighted by Toriyama. The manga had 14 chapters combined, which were gathered into a solitary tank on volume in November 2000. Sand Land first appeared in North America in 2003, serialized in Viz Media’s English-language Shonen Jump journal before receiving an English-language gathered version by the finish of that year.

Cast Characters

Sand Land has a varied cast of characters, who are visited by the protagonist and his party. The most major recurring characters are:

  1. A mere commoner, who travels to Sand Land during his 15th birthday and finds himself caught in a civil war. He then befriends and trains with the rebels to avenge his uncles’ deaths. On a journey of pilgrimage, he meets the princess of Sand Land and eventually defeats the king of the Dragons.
  2. A dragon who was turned into a human by an evil wizard’s spell. After being turned back into a dragon, she helps Goku defeat her former master and marries him. She is rescued by Goku from the ruins of her homeland and she gives birth to their two sons when she finds shelter in Goku’s house.
  3. A girl with a pure heart who lives in a village that has been overcome by evil demons. While being captured by the Demon Army, Yuriko and her companions are rescued by Goku. She later becomes Goku’s wife and mother to his two children.
  4. The princess of Sand Land is the daughter of the King of Dragons. After her father is killed trying to fight against Goku, she goes on a journey to find him and eventually finds him at peace in a mountain cave. She marries Goku and later becomes the mother to their two sons.
  5. A sword-wielding centaur who helps Goku and his friends out of trouble when they are attacked by the Demon Army. He is also the husband of Bulla and father to their child, Gola.
  6. The diminutive commander of the Demon Army (or “Demon Race”). His army is defeated by Goku. He later becomes a simple farmer.
  7. A man who trains Goku and his companions in martial arts. Like the protagonists, he is a commoner.

Main Storyline of the Show

Sand Land primarily takes place in a desert wasteland known as Sand Land populated by humanoid beings that have animal features such as tails, ears, or horns. The region has been ruled by the Demon King since his rise to power centuries before the time of the story. During that time, Sand Land was a prosperous nation under the benevolent rule of its king. However, the Demon King and his army would later kill the king and destroy his castle.
