While Riverdale introduced a seven-year story arc in season 5, there has been talking of demolishing the show’s middle school series. “It did not seem right,” screenwriter Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa keeps telling Entertainment Weekly. Reduced to season 7, and even those pairs are unexpectedly back in action in a big way.
Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) successfully infiltrated the meteor that has been trying to intimidate Riverdale’s very emergence in the season six finale. Still, by doing so, Riverdale was translocated back into the 1950s. Archie (KJ Apa) and the company are not just returning to high school, well as the company is not just returning to high school, even though Jughead (Cole Sprouse) is the only person who recognizes their past lives. So it’s a positive idea they saved some of these sets. “I’m so glad we didn’t [raze them],” Aguirre-Sacasa says.
EW has obtained an exclusive first glimpse of the final season of the television series, which delves into everything that the 1950s has to provide. Our style of music this year revolves around the 1950s, and we’re debating the American false narrative about what the 1950s have been versus the actuality.”
Even though Aguirre-Sacasa claims that each protagonist’s “principle” is the same, there are going to be substantial differences. To begin with, Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) isn’t a native New Yorker. “Veronica landed from New York in season one, and she emerged from Los Angeles in the 1950s,” he explains. She’s always an outcast and a social media personality which distinguishes herself from the crowd.”
And Archie isn’t the exact adolescent who formerly faced off against a bear. When we first meet Archie now, he is a well-dressed 1950s adolescent. We compare him to Richie Cunningham from Good Times, and he’s on his own voyage. He’s a much more unsuspecting and affectionate personality.
In terms of romance, the tv series has discovered a way to clear the several connections it has established over the past six weeks of the season. “It’s been a tremendous amount of fun,” Aguirre-Sacasa asserts. The tv series has a lighthearted tone to it. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to return to basics, with the kids in junior high exploring themself and possessing their first experiences. We could indeed explore these memories or reconsider ones we’ve previously discovered in a totally different manner.”
However, no matter how much time period Riverdale is set in, audiences can anticipate hearing music. And Fangs (Drew Tanner) is on step at this moment. “Fang is a kind of slicked-back headbanger. In our spiritual realm, he’s similar to a Ritchie Valens protagonist “According to Aguirre-Sacasa.
There is also Jughead, the one, and the only protagonist who realizes something must have gone terribly wrong.”‘What else do I do with this same fact since I’m the only person who recalls our existences first before the comet hit?’ he wonders. This is settled at the conclusion of episode one. But you are introduced to Cole as the Jughead we’ve become familiar with and afterward, you are able to see Cole as a 1950s character.”
And, as though Jughead didn’t already have enough on his plate to figure out how they’re all unexpectedly residing in the past, Aguirre-Sacasa teases some other wonder.”It’s primarily about our protagonists trying to figure out who they are within the shackling, dark intricacies of the 1950s,” he clarifies. “The main challenge for our character profiles is the attempt to lead legitimate collectivist lives during a time during which it was incredibly difficult.”
Nonetheless, the screenwriter would not claim that the final season seems to have a villain.
Riverdale’s season finale going to be the tamest after six seasons of mass murderers, televangelists, witchcraft, meteoroids, and Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos)? Presumably “tame” isn’t the right word. Riverdale season 7 releases brand new on the CW in spring 2023.
