Ballerina
In the upcoming film Ballerina, a slain Russian mob family member seeks revenge against the head contractor who killed her sister with help from her mentor. To do this, she leaves behind her former life as a dancer to become an elite assassin. But when the past comes back to haunt her, she is left with two life-changing choices: revenge or redemption.

“Ballerina” is the first production under Relativity’s new sub-label of action-thriller films called “Batman Universe.” From the masterminds behind The Bourne Ultimatum and The Italian Job comes this bloody tale of revenge. This is a story not afraid to mix equal parts vengeance and ballet. Against all odds, one woman will rise to become an elite killer… or find redemption in a world that calls for both.
Ballerina’s plot follows a Russian assassin who was previously a ballet dancer, whose family is killed. She must then become part of her former organization in order to track down the killer and have her revenge, but soon she is faced with the dilemma of choosing between revenge and redemption.
“Ballerina” is directed by Ana de Armas’ husband, Emile Hirsch. He’s a co-writer, as well. He has a career that includes The American, Pan, and two of the most critically acclaimed movies of 2017 year: James Gray’s Two Lovers and Darren Aronofsky’s mother!
The release date for “Ballerina” has yet to be announced. However, given that the first John Wick movie came out all the way back in 2014, and both Chapter 4 and The Continental are set to premiere in June of 2023, it seems reasonable to assume that Ballerina will be aiming to perform its dance of death onto screens sometime in either late 2023 or early 2024. In late June of 2023, we will see the release of “Ballerina” in theaters. As with all action thrillers, there is a good chance that it will land at a premium theater such as Landmark or The Arclight.
Ana de Armas is a Cuban-Venezuelan actress who was born in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2016, she starred with Keanu Reeves in the movie (Re)Assignment, which follows an assassin who is killed by an employer and then has her gender changed against her will. She also has a role in the upcoming Netflix series Maniac, which stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. She has one daughter.
Ian McShane, whose role in Ballerina is as Winston Scott, is probably best known for his role in the HBO series Deadwood, where he played Al Swearengen. He’s also known for other roles such as Captain Hook in the Shrek franchise and Mr. Wednesday in American Gods.
The filming of Ballerina has now wrapped and the director has posted on social media that it is time to prepare for post-production.
The budget for “Ballerina” has not yet been announced. However, given that the production of Ballerina banked on Ian McShane for many of its cast members, it is reasonable to assume that the budget will be high.
