The Recruit Season 2 has managed to capture some of the old-school feels of shows such as House of Cards or Scandal, but with a new twist. It features a man that stumbles into a secret society in Washington, DC, and becomes embroiled in their conspiracies while trying to find his way out. The main protagonist is Desmond Hume, a Princeton graduate and an ambitious campaigner for the state senate. The show follows his political campaign, which is tormented by his secret as an international spy.

Having achieved his goal in becoming state senator, Desmond faces even more challenges now that he’s on the other side of the podium. However, as his personal life becomes increasingly intertwined with Hannah’s, so does his role in Amber’s investigation. Before long it becomes clear that there are forces working against them from within and without.

 We are still waiting for confirmation on how well “The Recruit” is doing on Netflix in its second season, but there’s no denying that the show is one of their best successes so far. Although it initially looked like it was going to be a simple spy drama, “The Recruit” soon proved itself as a well-produced political drama with plenty of twists and turns. I am definitely looking forward to seeing where the show goes from here.

Netflix has already confirmed that Vondie Curtis-Hall (Nyland) will return for season 2, and we have spotted Colton Dunn returning as Lester. Other recurring characters include Aarti Mann as Violet, who is still Desmond’s assistant and his former girlfriend, and Daniel Quincy Annoh as Terence, who was Lena’s campaign manager.
