The Joker is a fictional character, a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics as the archenemy of Batman. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger and first appeared in Batman #1 (1940).
Batman’s nemesis, the Joker has been described as “the evilest” comic book villain of all time. His origin story differs according to the telling; however, it is known that he grew up with poor social skills displaying psychopathic tendencies from an early age. One common thread between his comic book incarnations is that he wants to create chaos for entertainment value or even just for laughs.
Nearly everything is a mystery at this point, with the script still in the works and the cast not yet announced. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, Joaquin Phoenix and Zazie Beetz will be starring in the film, which is being filmed in New York City. They are portraying a young couple called Arthur Fleck and Penelope Queen, who falls madly in love at an insane asylum. Phoenix has also signed on to play Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas Wayne.
According to Deadline, the sequel will follow Arthur and Penelope as they get engaged before heading off on their honeymoon to Paris. Upon arrival, they soon learn that Arthur has been diagnosed with a mental illness that could endanger their future together.
While it was previously believed that this movie would have a similar aesthetic to the previous film and take place in the ’80s, it looks as though the period will be ignored entirely and the sequel will be set in modern times.
The original was based on a script written by Todd Phillips and a story conceived by director Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese. So, it is not known if the sequel will follow the same path or if it will take its course in terms of story. No one has heard about Morgan Freeman’s involvement in this movie yet, but given his experience with the first movie, it does not seem unlikely that he would be included in the cast.
The film will reportedly feature an ensemble cast of Gleeson, Keener, Conroy, and Lawtey reprising their roles from “A Star Is Born”. As well as Phoenix’s role as Bruce Wayne’s father.
As previously mentioned, the release date has finally been unveiled! Season 2 will be launched on October 4, 2024. Fans of the first movie can expect to see it in theaters as soon as October 2022.
The film will be released in Europe on October 2, 2024, and in South America on October 15, 2024.
The first film was released to great success and the fans of DC Comics were delighted. The movie has taken up great reviews from critics throughout its theatrical run, having garnered a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Joker will see new star Joaquin Phoenix reuniting with director Todd Phillips. The movie is a take on the iconic comic book character and follows Arthur as he manipulates his lover’s family to destroy their marriage.
The film has been set up to commence filming on September 22 in New York City. This takes the production back to where they shot their first origin movie. It is being reported that the filming will take place in NYC, as well as New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Lousiana.
