The upcoming Rush Hour 4 is on the way if this report by Chris Tucker is anything to go by. The actor revealed that he had been working with the Rush Hour producers for a long time on a fourth installment of the movie series. Of course, his follow-up remarks are not just confirmation of another sequel but also that it has been in development for quite some time. “I’m gonna do another Rush Hour. We’re busy on the script right now.” — Chris Tucker
Danny (Chris Tucker) and Lee (Jackie Chan) have been through a lot over the course of their many adventures. As a result, Chan is not sure whether another sequel will be able to capture that same spark as previous installments, especially when it comes to the chemistry between himself and his co-star. Then again, he does believe that director Brett Ratner has what it takes to pull it off.
“Rush Hour 4” is one of the first big projects that Chan and Tucker have been working on together, “It’s a script,” he said, “We don’t know what it is yet.”
But whatever the case may be, Ratner seems keen to jump back into his director’s chair to get the project up and running. That’s according to producer Bill Block, who has been at the helm of many Rush Hour films. In an interview with HitFix, he confirmed that a fourth installment of the action comedy series was definitely still in the works. He didn’t clarify just how far along it was into development as of yet.
Rush Hour 4 is rumored to be in pre-production. A plot synopsis has been released and a cast list has been put together.
Plot: When his Chinese counterpart is murdered, Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) must work with Detective Carter (Chris Tucker) to solve the case and save Los Angeles from a dangerous smuggling ring.
Cast List: Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker, Tzi Ma, Roselyn Sánchez, Tom Wilkinson, Ken Leung, Hiroyuki Sanada and Noémie Lenoir.
Production Info: Filming location(s): Hong Kong; Main article: Rush Hour 4.
The first three films of the Rush Hour series all featured cameos from Hollywood actors and actresses.
In addition to this, it’s also been revealed that Hollywood talent can sometimes land themselves a role in Rush Hour films through unconventional methods. For example, Brett Ratner, director of the first three Rush Hour films, was able to get himself a part in the movie as Lee’s (Chan) friend. The film is unfortunately not very memorable and doesn’t have much of a presence in the film either.
Its working title is “Rush Hour 3.5”. That said, Rush Hour 3.5 does not have a lot to do with the existing movie except for the fact that it features some of the same characters and storylines as its predecessor. It has been rumored that some fans of Rush Hour are even planning on boycotting it if it ever gets released under this name.
Both “Rush Hour 1”, “Rush Hour 2”, and “Rush Hour 3” were released together in the United States as a single box set, “The Rush Collection”. And this series is so interesting and amazing.
