Disney+ is bringing out a new Star Wars series that takes place after the events of the films. It stars Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-Jae in the leading roles. The show is set in an unknown time period and sends viewers on a journey through worlds that are “uncanny, richly imagined”.
The show will focus on three people trying to get by in this new world: Acolyte, who aims to protect her people while navigating this dynamic realm; Jabral, who lost his family and now works with other survivors of these tumultuous times; finally Sidonie, an explorer seeking to learn more about what happened when society crashes.
The show is a pioneer in “Star Wars: A New Hope”. It’s set a few decades before that film and chronicles the stories of people affected by the downfall of the Republic.
The series follows Amandla Stenberg’s character, Acolyte, who strives to protect the disenfranchised and finds herself in the middle of a vast conspiracy. She must try to save those she loves without revealing her abilities.
It’s interesting that her character is called Acolyte because the word usually refers to a follower or disciple of a religion or philosophy. It’s similar to the apprentice of a Jedi Knight.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy says: “There are actually two plotlines in the show that stand on their own: One is centered around Acolyte, who is kind of like our protagonist, and then there is another storyline with two brothers”.
Acolyte is May the Fourth Be With You. It’s an acronym that stood for the Alliance to Restore the Republic and was amongst one of the most prominent political organizations during the Galactic Civil War.
The show is set a couple of decades before “A New Hope” (1977) and chronicles events that lay first as a part of the backstory before eventually meeting with the main protagonist Acolyte. The series shows us how Acolyte has grown up and what happens when she meets two people who will change her life.
We’re unsure how far along “The acolyte” is in production, but it’s possible that it’s just about casting.
The show is expected to release sometime in late 2023 or early 2024. There’s been no indication of a trailer or trailer release date.

If it keeps going on the same trajectory as “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Ozark”, it will be the year 2026. It may not be aired until 2027.
