What Millenials Think About Fitness

At a time when obesity rates are sky high, it’s no wonder more and more people are turning to fitness like elevate fitness mosaic. But what does it really mean to be “fit?” Does it mean having abs like David Beckham, or does it mean being able to run a marathon like Paula Radcliffe?

Well, the answer is both. Today’s millennial generation is redefining what health and fitness means for not only themselves but also for their society as a whole. In consequence, they’ve invented their own concepts of exercises and regimes that suit them best.

1. Social networking and SNS

Social networking is one of the most important aspects in the new fitness regime of today’s millennials. With Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and many other similar websites, people can show off their bodies to their friends and followers as well as get inspired by others’ pictures. Fitness has become a competitive game for today’s young people. According to Daily Mail, fitness blogger Jen Selter has 1.6 million followers on Instagram. Selter works out her butt to become the most famous butt trainer on social media.

2. Being healthy

Today’s millennials think that being fit and healthy should not be limited only to workouts in the gym (although this is still very important). They are aware that it is also important to have a balanced and nutritious lifestyle. Their priority is to be active, healthy and fit in terms of their mind as well as their body. High-level thinking and physical activity go hand in hand today.

3. Training for marathons

Running a marathon was once an activity reserved only for the super fit (or crazy). But today, more people are running marathons and other races because they want to help out a cause or simply for fun. For example, this year’s NYC marathon raised about $112 million for charity , making it the most successful New York City marathon in history .

4. Personal Trainer

Personal trainers are becoming one of the most trendy professions today. One of the reasons is that people find that having a personal trainer has many benefits, including getting motivation and helpful suggestions. There’s also a workout-focused social aspect, which can be incredibly motivating. Today’s millennials are working out together with their trainers, who are helping them achieve goals they may never have dreamed of achieving in the past.

5. Bootcamps

Whether it be CrossFit or SoulCycle , the idea of bootcamps is to make fitness fun and challenging through group exercise classes designed to get results fast . Bootcamps are also designed to be a social event, so people can “play” together while working out.

6. Nutrition

Food is increasingly becoming a more important part of millennials’ fitness routine. They are more aware of the importance of nutrition, so they try to eat healthy, nutritious foods to improve their body and mind. Today’s millennials have traveled all over the world and made a list of their favorite foods. As they grow older, they want to understand different cultures and traditions that come with different foods. They realize that nutrition is key for their bodies as well as for their minds, so they start thinking about what food would be best for each person based on their own needs and preferences.

7. Zumba

Zumba is a Latin dance workout that became wildly popular in the past decade thanks to its unique combination of Latin music with high-impact cardio. Its popularity has soared, especially among today’s millennials, who take it up in teams or groups and use social media to promote their fitness routines.

8. Yoga

Yoga has always been a very popular exercise for today’s millennials because of its calming and relaxing nature. This year, the New York Times published an article about how yoga can help millennials manage stress and anxiety . They believe that regular yoga helps them feel more focused and relaxed throughout the day, giving them more energy for their everyday lives.

9. Bootcamp

This is a concept born in the U.S., and it consists of small group training sessions. By creating a more interactive workout environment, bootcamps are making it easy to get results and meet new people at the same time. For millennials, this concept is becoming increasingly popular due to its positive effect on their health.

10. After Burn

After Burn is a new fitness program that is popular among today’s young people because of its unique features that set it apart from other programs available on the market right now. First of all, it is an innovative fitness program that uses high-intensity interval training to help people lose weight and get a six-pack without having to spend hours in the gym. In addition, the After Burn program comes with a FREE workout tracker app, making it extremely easy for people to stick to their fitness regime.

Summary:

Millennials are obsessed with staying healthy, and the fitness industry is taking notice. This generation has redefined their concept of health, and many new exercise programs have been created to meet their needs.
