Uf Confidentiality Statement is a statement that all UF students are expected to sign during the admission process. It details what information about you can be shared with your instructors and other students, as well as what information cannot be shared without your permission.
– Your signature on this document confirms that you have received “course-related materials” from your instructor, which includes: lectures; notes from class; solutions and solutions outlines from homework; and exams. Instructors often use these materials to help prepare their lectures or review material in a private lesson setting with individualized feedback.
– Your signature on this document confirms that you have not shared “course-related materials” with any other instructor. This includes: solutions from a previous semester or from the same course at a different institution; lecture recordings or online lecture lectures; assignments, exams or work completed in other courses.
– Instructors are allowed to share the “course related materials” with their teaching assistants and research assistants who are helping to teach your class. The reasons for sharing these materials are many and may vary from instructor to instructor.
– Instructors are allowed to share “course related materials” with other instructors that they attended school with – if they are teaching a class that is identical to, or very similar to, the class you took. This means that your instructor may share these materials as needed and is not limited to having your permission.
– Instructors are excluded from sharing “course related materials” with individuals outside of their department at the University. They are also excluded from sharing while they are working on a research project or in a graduate school thesis requiring their participation.

In addition, sharing private information may jeopardize an individual’s academic or professional prospects if the information is disclosed to an unfair or malicious party (e.g., employer).
