After 2020, having get-togethers is like taking a breath of fresh air. And yet, they’re still anxiety-inducing if you’re the organizer.

You have to admit that there’s a lot that goes into planning a party. To create an event everyone will love, you need to consider a lot. No pressure!

Luckily, planning a party doesn’t have to stress you out when you plan enough in advance. So here, we break down how to make your party go on without a hitch.

1. Plan in Advance

Planning out everything in advance, regardless of the size of the party, will save you a headache.

You don’t want to wait until the last minute only to realize there isn’t enough food. Or, there isn’t enough seating in your house.

A few weeks before the party, make a list of everything you need. You’ve likely been thinking about the get-together for a while now. So, all you need to do now is put your thoughts on paper.

Giving yourself at least a few weeks to stock up on party supplies is vital. This is also important if you buy things online, which we discuss next.

We’d also like to add that if you forget something, you’ll have enough time to pick it up plenty of time before the event.

2. Buy Things Online

These days, it’s easy to buy almost anything online. So to save yourself from having to find separate items at different stores, order party supplies online

If some things, like a personalized banner, will take a while to arrive, order it ahead of time. Personalized items make a party unique, but there’s processing time involved. Depending on how big the project is, you may even need to place your order a month in advance.

Don’t forget that you can order food on the web as well. Ordering food online is ideal, as it’s easy to pick it up at the baker or restaurant the day of the event.

3. Keep the Menu Simple

Speaking of food, don’t go crazy with the menu. Before the event, ask your guests what they like to eat. Some may have food allergies, so keep that in mind as well.

Based on what you find out, have two to five main menu items. If there’s no need to have a main meal, you can opt just to get snacks.

By only providing snacks, you won’t have to feel the pressure of coming up with an elaborate meal. So, if possible, plan the get-together at a time that won’t require you to have a main meal. It’ll sure save you a lot of stress!

4. Contact Guests Ahead of Time

Like planning ahead of time, you must also contact your guests far enough in advance. If you wait until the last minute, they may already be tied up. In some cases, they may be completely booked up and are going on vacation.

Giving guests enough notice allows them enough time to clear their schedule.

By the way, if you’re planning the party around one person for their Birthday, make sure they’re available first! Then, have a chat with them to see which people they’d like to see there the most.

It’s their Birthday party – so you should aim to please them.

So, depending on the type of party you throw, keep all these factors in mind.

5. Go With a More Intimate Space

At first thought, you may select a big venue to have a wedding reception or graduation party, for example. But the problem with that is that your guests may spread out too much.

When guests are too far away from one another, less socializing takes place. You want people to get to know one another and socialize more. There’s no need to make the venue really small. But keep in mind that a party is meant for people to catch up and enjoy one another’s company.

As a quick note, although an intimate space is nice, there is a slight hitch. If some of your guests smoke, make sure there’s an area where they can smoke away from other guests.

If a guest were smoking medicinal marijuana, for example, their smoking may affect people. In fact, there’s such a thing as a contact high if someone is in close proximity to another person. So, have an area where guests can escape to smoke or enjoy some fresh air.

Conclusion

Besides the above tips, think of ways to infuse creativity into the event. For example, coming up with icebreakers and games are fantastic ways to get people to warm up to one another.

It’s easy to get so wrapped up in planning the party that you forget that there may be many people who don’t know one another. But with your clever party ideas, all will be a success!

After the party is over, you’ll no doubt be ready to collapse. But with all your hard work – the event turned out to be amazing, right? So, rest assured all your efforts will pay off!
