What is reddit gtfo?

I’ll tell you what it means, this post is going to talk about something called “reddit gtfo“. It’s basically a form of karma whoring in the group of social news websites known as reddit. Putting it simply, reddit gtfo is basically when people on Reddit agree with you-upvote your comment or post- and then run away to (or upvoted) someone else who has done the same thing and get mad at them for doing so.  It’s a way of getting angry at people while also rising up in their spot on the site by pretending like you are being treated unfairly when nobody is actually treating you unfairly.

How does this work?

For example, say you have a post saying “That person that said that thing over there should die” and it gets upvoted and you get mad at the person who posted it. You can then go on to upvote someone else who disagrees with you and then get mad at them for doing so. Just like that, you are now upvoted higher than the original poster because they actually have a good argument while not giving any other reason to do so. This sort of behavior is seen pretty much everywhere on reddit and has been known to be done by popular users like [insert your favorite overhyped user here] . It’s one of the few things I genuinely hate about Reddit.

What is the result?

Pretty much nothing. There is no reason for these users to actually take up cause and most of the time, they don’t because you’re just using it as an outlet to vent your anger or so that you can get a little rise out of some people. If that’s what you’re looking for, there are countless other things on Reddit that are much more efficient than this based around getting people angry while not accomplishing anything.

What reddit gtfo is doing is pretty much the same thing as getting into a fight with someone on the street in the hopes that they will hit you back. You’re hoping to get them to be as mad at you so that you can get a rise out of them. It’s a silly way of thinking and it’s not healthy for anyone.

What am I trying to accomplish?

I’m not sure, I just want people to stop doing this stuff. It’s extremely annoying and there is no point. People will disagree with you anyway, so what is the point in spamming it on reddit? There isn’t any…I want to stop the annoyance I’m causing others. It’s a self-serving process that gives you some dopamine in return for nothing.

What can I do?

If you see someone doing this, upvote them! Take it from me, some people will find out about this and may start doing it themselves. This is just silly and everyone should stop immediately. If you have any questions about reddit gtfo, just ask! If there is not enough information here, I’ll make more of these posts in the future to more clearly illustrate the general idea behind what is happening and how to understand this concept better.

What are the benefits?

This isn’t really a benefit, but it’s just another thing you should know about. Reddit is a gigantic community and this kind of behavior is respected as “cool” or “funny”. The people who do this may be trolls, but everyone else sees them as part of the group. I’ve never seen anything more unjust than this and I refuse to accept it because there are too many causes that need attention.

What are the reasons?

A lot of these users are just angry with life in general. They come on here to vent and some even do it in private messages to others they find interesting or funny (or they’ll ask you to post something with them). These users are trying to make up for a lack of kindness and guidance from others in their life and treating people badly on Reddit is one way of doing so.

I’ve never seen any other reason for reddit gtfo. They don’t have anything else to do, they can’t be bothered to be kind, they have no manners, or any other reason than that it just really bothers them that someone isn’t agreeing with them. For all I know, they could be a baby who was just born and doesn’t know how to express themselves yet.

Are there any drawbacks?

This is one of the questions everyone has. Well, if you want to look for drawbacks, then yes there are some. If you use reddit gtfo to find people who agree with you and then block them or ignore them, then it’s pretty bad. This can really cause issues where they could have added something meaningful to their life, but because they are angry on the internet and ignored by others who don’t care that they have feelings. I’ve seen this happen time and time again myself while interacting with these people on Reddit.
