Newport News Sheriff’s Office, along with the City of Newport News and several other agencies, have been working to create the most comprehensive digital database for the Newport News Sheriffs Office in order to provide citizens with the most up-to-date information and solutions to local problems.
“The database will bring in all of the local information that we have regarding the issues, accidents, and emergencies that we have to deal with,” said Capt. Brian P. Steed, chief of the Newport News Sheriff’s Office. “It will give us the resources we need to better serve the citizens of Newport News.
This is great news! Now Newport News residents will have the tools they need to keep themselves and their families safe, and the Sheriffs Office has a great way to do that.
The issue at hand is that the Sheriffs Office can’t seem to tell exactly what the problem is. If it’s a local problem, it could be a problem at the local level, as well.
For instance, if the problem is that a local police officer is getting too busy to take care of his beat, as it may be, then they may not be able to say, “Hey, we need you to take care of that.” If its a serious problem, then the Sheriffs can say, “Hey, we need you to fix that problem,” but the problem might not be local.
There is always an issue that can be solved at the local level, but when it comes to something that can be solved at the state level, the Sheriffs simply don’t know what the problem is. Which is why they can’t fix it.
A local police department may say they need a local man to fix a problem that only a state officer can fix. While a local police department may be aware that they need to have a local man to do something, they still don’t know how to say, Hey, I need you to fix my local problem.
So a local law enforcement agency may have a problem with an issue only statewide officers can resolve. The Sheriffs of New York City have a similar problem. The problem is a group of corrupt politicians that have been involved in a series of shady deals to get elected to City Hall. They need a local man to come up with the money for a new, state-of-the-art patrol vehicle and then they need him to get them the needed funds.
I guess the only thing that would fix that is more money. They need him to get the money. Then they can have a new patrol vehicle. But since the City can’t spend money on it because of the corrupt politicians, they have to get it from a local man.
The “new” city is the one where the gangs are still there. But their power is going to stay the same.
