This official is the governor’s wife, whose salary is paid directly to her by the state. We also learn that a state senator has a secret personal account on state payroll where he is spending money for personal needs, such as a personal attorney.
It’s hard to picture an elected official who is spending money for personal needs just walking up to the state payroll and asking for a 14K check. I guess it’s possible that this senator is part of some sort of cover-up, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In any case, this is still a mystery that we don’t know the answer to.
