I am not in any way attempting to create controversy with this post, but I do want to mention that the network news has recently been reporting on something that is disturbing. I have been told by a very reliable source that at least 31 people have been fired from their jobs in the past two months due to what is being called an “unrelated event.
The news is very good with how things are being handled, and the fact that this event happened in the middle of a normal work week is really really disturbing. It is almost like if a person were to have an accident while working in a restaurant, they would probably be fired before anyone would even know what happened.
As of today, those 31 people are the only ones who were not given the news at the end of their interviews. I’m sure there will be some other people who were let go tonight, and I hope they don’t get fired for speaking to the public about a “scandal” that is not actually a “scandal.
The fact is, if you are a good reporter, you can’t be fired for reporting on a story. You have to be a good reporter to get fired. But if you are not, then your job is to get a job. You have to be a good reporter to get fired. If you are a good reporter, then you have a job to get fired.
News media have just begun to realize that the way to get the public involved in news is to make them the center of attention. To make them the center of attention, news media have been forced to become more sensational, and that has started to make some people feel like they have to be the center of attention. In the last 10 years, the number of stories that have turned into “news” stories has skyrocketed.
People love to get the news they want. And the longer the news stays in the news, the more they want it to be about them. But that’s not going to work. The way to get the public involved in journalism is to make them the center of attention. If you’re a news anchor you can be the center of attention, I mean you can’t have it all, maybe you can have some of it, but if people don’t care about it, then how are they going to care about you? But if they care about you, then they’re going to care about you.
People are so busy trying to make themselves the center of attention that they don’t realize that they are the center of attention. That’s why you get the weird people who think they can just pick up the phone and call, “Hello, I’m a news anchor.” But since this is the most popular job, they’ll think they can just call, “Hello, I’m a news anchor.” And that’s fine because you have to be the center of attention.
The new hire at WAIT31 is not a news anchor. Its a copywriter, who just got fired. And he’s probably right. News anchormen and copywriters are the most interesting types of people, people who are so self-involved that they can be completely uninterested in anything outside themselves. It may be that, in fact, the new guy is a copywriter. We’ll see.
